A letter from our Executive Director

Home is Where the Heart is Event 2023

Dear Friends,

Dana Hooper Headshot

LSA is excited to host our annual Home is Where the Heart is fundraising event this year at the Campbell Community Center. The event will take place on Saturday,May 20th, 2023 at 4pm. It will be a time to gather with the community and recognize LSA’s impact on helping change the lives of adults with developmental disabilities in Santa Clara County.

Since its inception in 2002, LSA has opened 15 homes throughout Santa Clara County that serve 75 diverse adults with varying disabilities, with a place to live where they can live and thrive. In addition to homes, LSA provides a Community Integration Training Program where 15 participants go out into the community, help other nonprofits and organizations while learning vital life skills, increase their social skills, broaden their experiences, and gain confidence and pride in being a productive part of their community.

Due to the generosity of businesses, organizations, foundations, and individuals such as yourself, LSA has been able to grow and thrive while many service providers in our area for adults with I/DD have closed in the last few years. The high cost of living, lack of staffing, and underfunded government reimbursement rates have limited the availability of housing for these adults. Despite these same challenges and with the support of the community, LSA has continued to grow and change lives. We recently purchased our 16th home which will allow us to further expand housing capacity for adults with disabilities.

Our homes make a difference in the lives of those who live there. Mason came to LSA last year, and his parents told us that LSA was everything they wanted as well as hoped for. They are impressed with the caring staff as well as how clean, safe, and respectful our homes are. They used words such as gratitude, joy, and comfort to describe their experience.

To hear more stories like Mason’s and to celebrate the difference we’ve made together in the lives of adults with intellectual developmental disabilities, please join us for Home is Where the Heart is on May 20, 2023, 4:00 PM at the Campbell Community Center.
