Dana Hooper has served as Executive Director of LSA since 2007. A high-tech veteran, he previously was Vice President of U.S. Operations for a German software developer. He is a leader in our community, working with government and nonprofits such as Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired (Board), Santa Clara Chorale and San Andreas Regional Center (Past President) where his son, Brent, is a client in supported living.
Duane Wong, CPA, joined LSA in 2009 and has 20+ years of senior-level finance and accounting experience with global high-tech companies and start-ups. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two young daughters as well as reading, jogging and travel.
Sharmean began her career in college as a Direct Support Professional, which inspired her to further her education and obtain her Master’s in Special Education. She has worked with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for more than 30 years in a variety of settings including; Adult Foster Care, Day Program, Supported Living, ICFs, and ARFPSHNs. She joined the LSA team in January 2019.
Susan LeRitz has a diverse background providing support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a community setting for more than 20 years. Her specialties include residential care programs, day programs, and independent living services including working with seniors. She has served LSA since 2006.
Director of Development
Celia has been fundraising for non-profits both large and small for more than 17 years. She has worked for the American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, Autism Speaks, School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County and Alum Rock Counseling Center. Most recently, she was the contracted Director of Fund Development for Project WeHope.
Cynthia Hill, M.S.W., oversees three of our homes and the CITP day program. Cynthia has worked with individuals with intellectual disabilities and behavioral challenges for more than forty years in various capacities. In her most recent role, she worked with clients transitioning out of developmental centers into community residential homes.
Director of Human Resources
Roxane Mortensen joined LSA in 2015 after working in small to large size high tech companies for more than 10 years in Human Resource positions leveraging HR services, policy and programs. She enjoys walking, reading, playing the piano, travel, cooking and spending time with her family.
Marketing & Communications Director
Hadiyah Fain joined LSA in 2019 with a background in marketing and corporate branding. Hadiyah specializes in web development, user interface design, and online market analysis. She aims to tell stories that are visually appealing, captivating, and true. Her passion is to serve her community by providing a voice for those who have no voice.
Jemma is a nurse with over 20 years of experience in various medical specialties. She joined LSA in November 2008 and helped open Empey. In August 2012, she became Administrator for McKendrie.
Humbolt & Tamarack
Shelly joined LSA in May 2007 as a Direct Support Professional. Her previous experience with seniors proved very helpful, and she was promoted to Administrator for Rivermark Home 1. She helped develop and start the programs for the Ramita, Humbolt, and Tamarack Homes.
Baywood & Milton
Joseph joined LSA in 2009 as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician. Previously, he worked at several community-based day programs as a caregiver and mental heath counselor.
Salerno & Empey
Armie was a nurse for five years and a nursing instructor for three years in the Philippines. In 2006, she became a registered nurse in the U.S. and worked as a nursing supervisor in a skilled nursing facility. In 2007, she joined LSA and helped opened Baywood. She is now the Administrator for Salerno and Empey.
Cypress & Calle Viento
Roger’s career has been dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and seniors with Alzheimer’s for 18 years. Roger started as a DSP for LSA in 2007 and has been instrumental in providing quality care and services to all of the homes.
Abigail started working for LSA in 2013. As her first job, she started out as a DSP working in multiple homes and grew to have special connections to LSA’s residents. In 2020, she was promoted to Administrator for our CITP Program.
Rivermark 1 & Cambrian
Edwenna started working at LSA as a DSP on September 2015. In 2018, she was promoted to Administrator for Rivermark Home 1 and Cambrian. Prior to LSA, Edwenna attended college, cared for Children with Developmental Disabilities and the Elderly.
Rivermark 2 & Ramita
Solomon started working for LSA in October 2011 as a LVN. He accepted the Administrator position and started shadowing back in September 2019. He has officially been a home Administrator at Ramita and Rivermark Home 2 since March 2020. Prior to joining LSA, Solomon worked as a nurse in two skilled nursing facilities: Our Lady of Fatima Villa and Sacred Heart Jesuits Center. He also served as an LVN Nurse with IV certification at Valley Medical Center for two and a half years.
John has been an LSA board member since 2016. For over 35 years he has been the Proprietor of Pencer Instrument Care, responsible for the inspection and repair of surgical instruments , for hospitals and surgery centers, in the bay area. Prior to Pencer Instrument care, he spent 10 years as a plant engineer, manager of manufacturing, then general manager of Snowden-Pencer, a division of Parke-Davis, manufacturing high quality surgical instruments. His community involvement includes over 40 years serving on the Board, and as a chair, of the Santa Clara Valley YMCA, and as a member, and past president, of the Los Gatos Rotary. John and his wife, Devonne have three adult children, the oldest of whom, Jennifer, is developmentally disabled, and lives with them, in their home.
Tina has been a LSA board member since 2015 and current chair of the resource development committee. Parent of two adult sons, one of whom has developmental disabilities and lives in LSA’s Cypress House. Technical Project Manager at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Mike has been a board member at LSA since 2015 and serves as Chairman of its Finance Committee. Mike is retired now after a 40+ year career as a Silicon Valley corporate lawyer. He has a long experience with supporting living and the San Andreas Regional Center due to his oldest son Jason, who is a resident at a care home in San Jose. Mike is a graduate of Stanford University and the Law School at UC Berkeley.
Fran has been a LSA board member since 2014. She is an advocate and direct care provider for her Special Needs adult son. Her passion is creating opportunities for housing, inclusion and supportive communities for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Fran is also a member of Coastal Haven Families LLC, helping to build an inclusive neighborhood in Santa Cruz and volunteers for the non-profit Common Roots Farm who provide work opportunities for people of all abilities. Fran loves spending time with friends and family and walking her dog Hilo.
Olenka Villarreal is exceedingly proud to serve on the LSA board since 2011. A long-time Silicon Valley executive, she founded and now runs Magical Bridge Foundation which is a non-profit organization dedicated to building parks and playgrounds that create more inclusive communities. In her work to advance more thoughtful design for all abilities, Olenka is a frequent guest at Stanford University courses and also serves as an advisory member for AbilityPath. She resides in Palo Alto with her husband and two daughters, one who is college and one who, one day may be lucky enough to live in a wonderful LSA home.
Mike has served as a board member of LSA since the beginning of 2019. Mike works for eBay as an application and network infrastructure security architect. Mike has worked in high tech for over 25 years and joined LSA in an effort to give back to the community.
Lee joined the LSA Board in January of 2019, motivated to help other adults who need assistance to lead life to the fullest in a safe and caring environment. Lee Nelson is a senior attorney with WarnerMedia and responsible for ethics, compliance and other legal matters in Europe and Asia. He and his wife, Akiko, have an adult son who is severely autistic and resides at home with them.
Sandra has served as a Board of Director since 2019. She is an educator, and a leader in her community with a vast amount of experience leading nonprofits in Fresno County. Currently, she owns her own business as a Life, Health, Accident Insurance Agent as well.
Ranga has been a Board member of LSA since Jan 2020. A semiconductor veteran for the past 37 years, he is currently an operations manager for a business unit in the large semiconductor firm. He has successfully trained several runners and non-runners to maintain a healthy lifestyle and has been a race director for the past 10+ years where about 1000 runners and walkers of a non-profit organization participate and raise funds for various local and international charities. He is the proud father of Sitara, who has physical and developmental disabilities and a happy resident at the Cambrian LSA home.
Chris has served as a LSA board member since 2020, and is the Chair of the Investment Committee. Chris works at UBS Financial Services, where he advises Non Profit organizations and individuals on the investment their financial assets to pursue their long term goals. In his free time he tries to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible, snowboarding in the winter, mountain biking in the summer and running throughout the year.
Matt has served as a LSA board member since January 2021. He is a CPA and has held finance positions at various tech companies for nearly twenty years. Prior to moving to the Bay Area in 2017 he spent thirteen years in Japan. There he supported the operations of US-based tech companies in Asia. Currently he is a Finance Director at Adobe. He enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and spending as much time as possible with his school-aged daughter.
